Food & Delivery
A fair-pricing food platform that runs the whole restaurant
Zero commission for restaurants, dine-in prices for customers

FOODEY
FOODEY is a food ordering platform built around a simple idea: the restaurant pays a fixed monthly fee instead of a commission on every order, so the price on the app is the same as the price at the table.
The problem
On the big delivery apps a restaurant hands over a large share of every bill. To survive, most of them raise their online menu prices - so the customer quietly pays more for the same plate. Small and mid-sized restaurants also end up running three or four different systems: one for delivery, one for the counter, one for dine-in orders, and a notebook for the kitchen.
What we built
- Customer app - browse nearby restaurants, order for delivery, takeaway or a table, track the order live, and pay online or on delivery.
- Restaurant staff app - built for a tablet at the counter. Take dine-in orders table by table, fire tickets to the kitchen, add items to a running table, split or merge bills, and settle at the end.
- Kitchen display - a screen in the kitchen that replaces printed dockets. Orders appear by station, and the cook marks each one ready.
- Rider app - one app for both the platform's own riders and a restaurant's own delivery boys, with pickup and drop navigation and proof of delivery.
- Admin console - for the restaurant to manage its menu, timings, stock-outs and staff, and for FOODEY to manage restaurants, subscriptions and payouts.
- One menu, one stock - dine-in, takeaway and delivery all read the same menu and the same availability, so an item that runs out disappears everywhere at once.
- Order dispatch - a delivery request is offered to riders in stages rather than blasted to everyone, so orders are picked up quickly without wasting rider time.
How it helps
- The restaurant keeps the full value of every order and pays one predictable monthly fee.
- The customer pays the same price they would pay sitting in the restaurant, plus a small fixed fee that is shown openly.
- The floor, the kitchen, the counter and the delivery run on one system instead of four.
- Every amount is stored in whole paise, so bills, discounts and settlements always add up.
Technology
Three React Native apps (customer, staff, rider), two Next.js web applications (admin and kitchen display), and one Node and Express API over PostgreSQL with live updates pushed to the kitchen and to the customer as the order moves.
